Mentorship Info
In this Technical Artist Mentorship, the artist will be Mentored on how to approach creating a variety of procedural tools using Houdini, Unreal and/or Python. The artist can enter the Mentorship with a tool/tools in mind, or the Mentor can help guide the artist on creating some commonly requested tools.
First, we will take a bird’s eye view of the tools, planning out each of the general features needed. Then we will dig into the functionality of each feature, focusing on cleanliness, speed and readability.
At the end of the Mentorship, the artist will have a better understanding of how to approach creating a tool, making sure to create a positive user experience for the target audience and creating functions with reusability in mind for future tools.

Mentor Bio
Jim Watson | Senior Technical Artist
Jim is currently working at Lightspeed L.A. as a Senior Technical Artist. He has previously worked on Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and God of War (2018) as a technical artist, FX artist and environment artist.
With games becoming much larger and more detailed, there comes a larger opportunity for implementing procedural workflows into AAA development. Jim absolutely geeks out finding procedural workflows that empower artists to push their work as far as possible with minimal redundancy and maximum speed!
