Mentorship Info
In this month long Mentorship, the artist will be mentored on how to approach game-ready World Building in an organized and technically efficient manner all while developing your eye for quality.
As a mentee, you'll be guided through anything related to the creation of environments using AAA game art workflows. Depending on your skill level and goals, we can go through the whole creation process: gathering reference, blocking out the environment, modeling, UV'ing, using modular workflows, leveraging composition, set dressing and finally, tuning shaders and lighting to make your art sing.
At the end of the Mentorship, the artist will have developed their eye for detail and explored game art workflows used by current AAA artists to create breathtaking environments. Using Marmoset Toolbag and Unreal Engine 4, you will learn how to take your environments and create eye catching renders and presentation layouts to make your work standout on ArtStation, social media and ultimately, the job market.

Mentor Bio
Jobye-Kyle Karmaker | Principal Environment Artist
Jobye-Kyle Karmaker is a Senior Environment Artist with over 10 years experience working in the games industry. He initially got his start working on multiplayer Source Engine mods. From there, he went professional and worked at Ubisoft Toronto, then Monolith Productions, where he worked on an array of franchises in different genres, from linear and multiplayer games to open world games: Rainbow Six, Splinter Cell, Far Cry and Middle-Earth – Shadow of War. Jobye has now spent the last nearly 3 years at Respawn Entertainment, where he shipped on Star Wars – JEDI: Fallen Order and is now working on Apex Legends.
Throughout his career and through multiple projects, Jobye has built up a strong generalist background in all facets of environment art. Whether it's realistic, sci-fi or fantastic styles, foliage creation or hard-surface art, organic terrain or urban areas, chances are, he's worked in it.
