Mentorship Info

In this month long Mentorship, the artist will be mentored on how to approach Props & Asset Creation PBR based from a technically proficient manner, optimized and video game oriented, as well as with a huge emphasis on storytelling.

With the aim of ensuring an artistic growth, the Mentor will work on developing an action plan based on the artist’s skill set and learning objectives. Having in mind the desired asset to create (both organic or hard surface), the artist will start working, facing one by one all stages related to Props Creation with professional approach. Specifically, breaking down references for a clearer mental plane of the work to be done | blocking and scaling test |fast but highly detailed modeling | efficient topologies | proficient baking processes | optimized UVs and PBR texturing strongly influenced by storytelling.

By the end of the Mentorship, the artist will have reached a better understanding of the pipelines, workflows and tools that are part of the day-to-day in a AAA art department. In addition to this and with Marmoset Toolbag, artists will learn how to create eye catching renders and presentation layouts to make their work standout on ArtStation and social media.

Mentor Bio

Paula Sánchez-Ferrero | Lead Environment & Prop Artist

Paula is currently working as Lead Environment & Prop Artist at elite3d. Having been there for more than 4 years now, she has contributed to titles such as The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope, Call of Duty: Cold War, Metro Exodus, Call of Duty: World War II and Overkill’s The Walking Dead, as well as 7 unannounced titles.

Having had to adapt very quick and early to the constant change of workflows and demands from one project to another, Paula soon managed to develop a critical eye that allowed her to take her art to the next level. Considering herself a true passionate about all 3D specialties, she has found in Props and Environment Art the perfect way of expression to drive her creativity. Interesting shapes, realistic textures and strong storytelling are combined with technique to generate optimized but detailed models to put her art in disposal for the industry needs.
